We received an official word from Google
A Google representative contacted to confirm that the problem with the Fitbit application is now resolved. Everyone should now be able to connect to their accounts and again synchronize their fitness trackers.
Here is what happened
- A few hours ago, the reports began to increase on Reddit and Downdector that Fitbit users, regardless of the Fitbit or Google Pixel Watch device they owned, knew problems with synchronization with the application.
- Not only that, but when the users followed the Fitbit steps by the Fitbit steps by the first uninstall and the resettlement of the application, they could not connect to their accounts.
- This meant that all the information that their fitness tracker does not collect was not added to their existing data pool.
- The Fitbit status page has updated to allow its users to know that there was a widespread problem, and furious users took reddit to express their dissatisfaction.
- Fortunately, a correction has soon been deployed, and Users are now able to connect. If you always encounter problems, it is likely that you will soon receive a corrective.
- There is no need to restart or reset the factory of your Fitbit deviceLosing all your settings: the problem seems to be (or having been) with the Fitbit application, whether you access it on your phone or via a web API.
Months ago, a similar breakdown struck the best Garmin watches, lasts over several days, and we experienced an outcry from Garmin users.
As a user of Garmin myself, I remember how much I relied on my Garmin during the marathon formation and during the events themselves, because tools such as the areas of virtual rhythm and heart rate kept me on the right track to achieve (or at least miss it right) my goals on the day of the race. The idea of crashing on my race watch on me on the day of the race, after having worked around this moment for months, simply did not think of thinking.
Fitbit users are undergoing a similar problem today, and I can’t help but feel people who rely on this flow of wrist information during events and big life competitions, not just daily users looking for sleep and steps. As a runner, I used this information as a tool during my training: it is only now that I realized that the tool has become a crutch.
Whether it’s a reminder to remove your training surveillance from time to time and work by working by Seel: the race coach, the author and the regular PK Press Club, Lily Canter, wrote an excellent article on the reasons why running without smartwatch – called “Naked Running” in the community – can be such a useful practice.
How to repair your Fitbit application
Honestly? It seems that the correction is “do not do anything and try to connect later”.
Fitbit deploys a correction, but it seems that it is a slow process, some users have always remained unable to connect. However, he East Moving, so if you still cannot synchronize your watch watch or your fitness tracker, or if you cannot connect to your application, don’t worry – try a not followed training for a change and take where you stopped once the fix has reached you. Who knows? You could take advantage of the lack of liberating responsibility that accompanies the takeoff of your fitness watch.
Closed incident – for some …
The official state page of Fitbit now reports the incident as “closed”, indicating that the correction is deployed to users and that the breakdown has ended, which aligns with those that decrease the Downdector reports.
However, according to our reception box and reports on Reddit, many people cannot yet get back into their accounts. For these people, we must assume that a fix is imminent – but let us know if the problem persists.
Reader email: some people are always affected
A reader sent an email to tell us that they are still not back in the application, despite the corrective that apparently takes place.
“Yes, I’m assigned. I can’t synchronize, reinstall the application, now I can’t connect.”
This despite the dowector divers reports below, which seem to indicate that the worst is behind us. Hang on!
We are back! of R / Fitbit
Are we back? A user has just published that he was able to connect once again with its regular details, with other crisscrosses in that it works.
However, other users indicate that they still cannot access their application, so it is clear that the fix is slowly deployed in the user base.
This is a reassuring new for Fitbit fans, but it is useful to know how fast this corrective takes place. If you are still affected by the breakdown (or if you have failed to record an important event or training), send us an email to the above address.
Is there something that is not going with my fitbit?
Probably not. Whether you have an old Alta Fitbit, an Inspire 3 inexpensive and darling fitbit, or a high -end Google Pixel Watch 3, do not panic: your real device is probably good, even if it does not synchronize with your application. It does not seem to be necessary to restart or tinker with your Fitbit device itself, at least until Google comes out with an official solution.
The problem, as mentioned in previous articles, seems to come from the Fitbit application. You can lose some of today’s data following this synchronization problem, but it is too early to understand the complete ramifications of a large breakdown like this. However, it is a relief that your best fitness tracker is probably very good.
A reader’s email
A reader with the DZ handle sent an email to add his voice to our suspicions: “Neither my husband nor I were able to synchronize our Fitbits this morning. We tried a phone and four different tablets.”
It is interesting to note that this is a problem on devices: because it affects both mobile and web applications, something is wrong with Fitbit on the back.
Therefore, if you read this, change devices and try to connect to something else will probably not work: the problem comes from your Fitbit account, not from the device you are connecting.
Fitbit’s official status: “a major breakdown”
Status.fitbit.com confirms that the application and the web API are known to a “major breakdown”, with a service disturbance (not a full failure, however) on the two channels.
However, it is interesting to note that the synchronization / torque of the devices is listed as “available” with a green tick, which contrasts with user relationships on Reddit in the previous post.
Reddit speaks
Difficulty connecting from R / Fitbit
Sifting towards the subtrack of Fitbit, we found the post above with a comments dam all saying the same thing: their Fitbit devices would not synchronize with the application, and when they tried to uninstall and reinstall the application, they could no longer connect. Here are some examples:

Our first clue that something was wrong came a huge peak in Downdector, which you can see above. At the time of writing this document, we see more than 2,000 breakdowns, with many other users turning to other sites like Reddit to express their dissatisfaction.
