- Spotify has launched two new Audiobook Subscription Modules for certain members of the Premium Plan
- Audiorobooks + and Audiobooks + for Plan members will allow users to buy additional listening hours in addition to the 15 -hour limit
- The new options are only available on selected markets, with similar plans to follow for American subscribers
The Spotify audio book ecosystem is constantly evolving and is just as popular as its vast podcast library. Now, the musical streaming service is expanding audio access to Spotify Premium subscribers with two new additional subscriptions.
Billed as “Audiobooks +” and “Audiobooks + for members of the plan”, the new complementary audio modules of Spotify offer additional hours of listening to premium subscribers, which gives users more flexible subscription options that allow you to personalize access to your personal needs.
The addition of the two new options aims to “help develop the publishing industry and create the best possible experience for booksellers”, which the company shared in its ad. The prices of new complementary modules have not been shared by Spotify, which is probably due to their variation in the market.
Currently, the new additional subscription modules are only available for premium subscribers in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
This follows the first Spotify trials in Ireland and Canada, which have proven to be successful, and similar plans should follow American subscribers, according to Techcrunch.
So many audio books, so little time 📚 but with audio books +, you get 15 additional hours of listening included in your premium plan each month! pic.twitter.com/ksmwyhq0cvJuly 17, 2025
Say hello to audio books +
Regarding the new audio plans of Spotify, the first plan is Audiorobooks +, which allows managers of premium individual, premium family and premium family plans to add 15 overtime audio listening hours each month. The basic plan already includes 15 hours of access to audio books, therefore the purchase of the complementary audio + supplement will double it. The Audiorobooks + for Plan option is slightly different.
In a first move for Spotify, members of the family and duo plans who are not the account manager will be able to access their own additional audio listening hours. Spotify says that all you have to do is ask for access to the audio book from your plan manager, which can then buy additional audio listening hours on your behalf. If users lack hours before leaving their monthly invoice, plan managers can also buy a single 10 hour charging.
The new additional subscription modules adopt the Spotify audio book ecosystem at a different level, offering a flexibility element that could really benefit listeners who read more than other members of their family or duo plans. This means that plan directors will not have to buy overtime for each member and can prioritize those who are more likely to take advantage of the Spotify audio library.
In 2024, Spotify launched its level of autonomous audio access in the United States, a plan designed for users who want more content specific to audio book rather than music and podcasts, although this plan offers advertising reading for both. With the new audio +plans, the main objective of Spotify is to provide listeners more flexibility in their subscription plans, which is ideal for passionate readers, but music fans always count, who all wait patiently the complementary spotify Hifi module.
