Islamabad:

Pakistan and Libya have agreed to improve the bilateral defense cooperation by industrial collaboration and the exchange of technical expertise, in order to take up the evolution of the challenges of regional security on Friday, the military media wing reported.

According to inter-service public relations (ISPR), an understanding was reached at a meeting between the chief of staff of the army (COAS), Marshal Syed Asim Munnir and the commander-in-chief of the Lieutenant-General of the Libyan armed forces in Rawalpindi.

The two military leaders discussed questions of mutual interest, regional dynamics and emerging security threats, while expressing the commitment to strengthen defense ties between the two countries.

When he arrived in GHQ, Lieutenant-General Haftar received an honorary guard by the Pakistani army. He also posed a floral crown at Yadgar-e-Shuhada to pay tribute to the martyrs of the Pakistani army.

Later in the day, the Libyan commander -in -chief, accompanied by a delegation, called Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad.

Decoring the visiting dignitary, the Prime Minister expressed his hope for greater collaboration between Pakistan and Libya in several sectors, including the defense, the economy and the exchanges of people to people.

The two parties had discussions on improving bilateral links, with a particular emphasis on security cooperation and shared regional interests. Lieutenant-General Haftar thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz for warm hospitality extended to him and his delegation during the visit.
