Govt will respond to the PTI demonstration once their preparations are completed: NAQVI

The Minister of the Interior, Mohin Naqvi, answered various urgent questions during a press briefing on Friday, including the next demonstration of Pakistan Tehreek-E-insaf (PTI) scheduled for August 5, the presence of Afghan nationals in Pakistan and the plans to attack illegal housing companies in Islamabad.

Regarding the planned demonstration of the PTI, he pointed out: “Let PTI finish their preparations first, then we will take our own measures.” This declaration comes in response to questions about the government’s strategy to manage the PTI call to a demonstration.

On the subject of Afghanistan, the Minister of the Interior underlined the continuous diplomatic dialogue of Pakistan with the Islamic emirate, recognizing the importance of bilateral relations.

He also clarified Pakistan’s position on illegal foreign nationals residing inside his borders, declaring that no ClĂ©mence would be shown towards anyone who remained illegally, in particular Afghan nationals.

“Afghan nationals illegally residing in Pakistan will not receive extensions,” said Naqvi, noting that Iran had recently expelled 300,000 Afghan nationals in the past two weeks.

The Minister also responded to concerns about the growing number of illegal housing companies in Islamabad. He announced that a large -scale operation against these unauthorized developments was underway, with 133 illegal housing companies currently examined.

By approaching other national questions, Naqvi shared that the Ministry of the Interior is considering the appointment of a new officer to supervise questions concerning armed institutions, but the final decision has not yet been taken.

Regarding environmental concerns, he warned the potential threat of smog in Islamabad. He noted that the risk that SMOG will return to the capital in the coming years remains significant, and efforts are made to increase the city’s green areas to fight this problem.

With regard to infrastructure, the Minister stressed that a route in the E-11 sector of Islamabad had been damaged due to the excavation by the Su sur gas department, adding that the problem would soon be solved.

He also briefly mentioned his remarks on the situation in Balutchistan, specifying that he used the term “control” in a metaphorical sense when he discussed the role of the application of the law in the fight against terrorism in the province.

Finally, Naqvi highlighted the role of Pakistan leadership in the prevention of climbing in the Iran-Israeli conflict. “The Prime Minister and the Head of the Army played a key role in the prevention of the Iran-Israel war,” he said.
