Microsoft has confirmed a series of welcome updates that will see the old versions of its Exchange and Skype server for the management of business queen a little longer, in order to give customers time to continue to migrate to new options.
Exchange Server 2016 and 2019, and Skype for the 2015 and 2019 business, will both lose support on October 14, 2025 – the same day that Windows 10 also loses assistance – but a new extended security update (ESU) will be offered in its place.
Unlike the ESUS, Exchange and Skype operating system will only be available with a single ESU program and six months covering critical and important security updates, but it is always a welcome decision for those who need additional time.
Microsoft offers a six -month ESU on Exchange and Skype
The ESU period will take place from October 14, 2025 to April 14, 2026, without any other possible extension.
Customers can contact Microsoft from August 1 to obtain price and purchase details, because ESUS will not be available via Windows Update or public downloads – just for those who have registered in the program.

We do not know how many users remain on older versions and who will be supported which will be supported by Skype, but if the migration of Windows 11 is something, it could be a lot. It was not until June 2025 that the number of Windows 10 installations and Windows 11 reached almost a short – before that, the number of people running Windows 10 was much higher.
