John Parry struck the first hole in the Open during the third round on Saturday in Royal Portrush.
Parry, 38, struck an iron at 8 on the 13th hole of 192 yards. The ball landed on green, took some rebounds and went directly to the hole.
Parry removed his hat and kissed Justin Leonard, with whom he played, to celebrate.

The English golfer guessed that it was “the 10th hole in his career.
“Certainly the best, 100%,” said Parry.
Parry said he felt that his shot “was going to be close” after hitting him.

“I struck a very good blow for once, so it was quite nice. It was a fairly comfortable blow where I knew that I had a large window to land the ball,” said Parry, according to the open website.
“He was going to put himself short, hit the slope and eat or – he went a little louder than I thought at this distance for the club that I struck. But I had the impression that it was going to be close.”
Emiliano Grillo struck a hole in one on the same hole when the open was in Royal Portrush six years ago.
Parry’s hole in one was the 31st at open since 1981.

Parry has 3 sous the tournament overall after shooting a 67 of four people on Saturday.
“It was a great day. Obviously, the kind of experience you get a hole in one – the atmosphere was absolutely incredible,” said Parry after the round via the open website.
