Pakistan, Azerbaijan to establish joint working groups

Islamabad:

Pakistan and Azerbaijan agreed on Saturday to establish joint working groups (JWG) aimed at strengthening bilateral connectivity and raising their relationship in a strategic economic partnership focused on rail and commercial infrastructure.

The announcement follows a high -level meeting held at the ministry of railways, with the Minister of State on railways and finances Bilal Azhar Kayani in the president.

The session brought together the main stakeholders to explore the tracks to strengthen cross -border links and advance mutual economic interests.

The Minister of the State reiterated Pakistan’s firm commitment to improve iron -based commercial connectivity with Azerbaijan. He noted that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif actively pursues a complete strategy for the development and modernization of Pakistani railways.

The railway secretary gave a detailed briefing on the Pakistani rail network, highlighting its existing capacity and its derivation prospects for future expansion in order to adapt to regional freight and logistics operations.

During the meeting, the two parties also discussed the rail agreement signed between Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, stressing its importance in the progress of regional connectivity.

The main managers of various Pakistani ministries and departments participated in a high -level meeting aimed at advancing bilateral connectivity between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.

Meanwhile, Senator DPM / FM Mohammad Ishaq Dar and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, reaffirmed the strategic partnership between the two countries and expressed their satisfaction with the joint efforts to further strengthen close and fraternal links.

During a telephone conversation, they discussed areas of mutual interest and bilateral cooperation, the spokesperson for the Foreign Affairs Bureau in a press release said.
