Islamabad:
The security forces killed four terrorists belonging to a separatist group prohibited during an intelligence -based operation (IBO) in the Kalat district in the night between Saturday and Sunday.
The operation was carried out in the Pahrod region of the district on the basis of reports concerning the presence of terrorists. According to an official press release, the troops actually took a position near the hiding place of the terrorists, who were neutralized after an intense fire exchange.
Forces also seized a large cache of weapons, ammunition and explosive equipment from the hiding place. A disinfection and clearance operation was underway in the region.
The operation took place a few days after the terrorists opened fire on a passenger bus to Karachi in Kalat, killing at least three and injuring seven others. In another attack on July 11, terrorists removed and executed nine passengers after having removed them from the buses in the Loralai district.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the Chief Minister of Balutchistan, Mir Safraz Bugti, congratulated the security forces for the successful operation in separate messages.
The president noted that the state is determined to eradicate terrorists at all costs with the support of the nation. “The state will continue to take measures against terrorism with full strength. Fitna-tul-Hindustan terrorists will be prosecuted until the end,” added Zardari. Terrorists belonging to prohibited separatist organizations are also referred to Fitna-Tul-Hindustan because of their links with India.
In a separate message, Prime Minister Shehbaz said the whole nation was with the security forces in the war against terrorism. “The government is firm in its desire to eradicate all forms of terrorism in the country,” he added.
The Balutchistan chief minister Bugti also praised the professionalism of the forces and the unshakable determination. He expressed his satisfaction on timely intelligence and the rapid response that neutralized the threat.
“The rapid reaction to terrorist activity in Pahrod is commendable. Our security forces have once again demonstrated their preparation and their determination to protect the province,” he said.
Labeling the group A threat to national stability, the CM has reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to decisive action against all state enemies.
“Operations against enemies of the state will continue on all fronts. Any attempt to sabote the peace of Balutchistan will be crushed,” he said.
Bugti described the operation as a clear message to hostile elements, declaring that the harmful conceptions of Fitna-Tul-Hindustan had been dismantled.
“Their plans reside in ruins. Our forces have defeated their bad intentions,” he said.
He paid tribute to the staff involved, stressing that their success reflects the vigilance and dedication of the security forces of Pakistan. “They again thwarted the malicious plans of the enemy and have proven their unwavering commitment to national security,” he added.
