Quetta:
A horrible video appeared on social networks on Sunday, representing the brutal murder of a man and a woman in Balutchistan, in the name of a so-called honor, sending shock waves across the country and beyond.
While the video spread like forest fires, the public fell with disbelief. The graphic images have triggered immediate indignation, triggering a storm of condemnation of civil society, religious scholars and political leaders.
The victims, whose identities were not immediately known, would have been targeted by their own family or members of the community – a disaster recall of the archaic and fatal tradition of the honor killings which continues to seduce parts of Pakistan.
The video would have shown that some armed men were apparently killed and killed a man and a woman publicly. In this video, all people spoke in the Brahi language and their accent was the same as that spoken in different fields of Quetta and Mastung, according to the BBC.
The video is apparently made in a mountainous area where there is a desert around an earthcate. At first, several vehicles and jeeps can be seen in broad daylight, outside which there are several people.
Apparently, these men ask a woman dressed in a red dress and a wheat chador to keep a certain distance from the vehicles. During this, the woman could be heard in Brahi that “the only shot is authorized, nothing else”. The woman did not resist, held rather quietly far from the vehicles.
After this conversation, a few shots were also pulled one by one. According to the BBC, it was not clear in the video that the man or the woman was killed first, however, after the first shots, a voice is heard saying “killing him”, which is followed by the sound of several shots.
Speaking to the media of Karachi Press Club, the government spokesman for Balutchistan, Shahid Rind, confirmed that the incident had taken place in Balutchistan, but did not say when and where in the province. He revealed that an accused had been arrested.
“The names of the deceased were obtained and the tribes they belonged, but they cannot be disclosed at the time,” he said. Their bodies had not yet been recovered, he continued, claiming that their relatives had not deposited any police cases.
“The photos of those seen in the video were given in Nadra [National Database and Registration Authority] And with their help, one of the accused is arrested. Raids are underway to stop the other accused, “said Rind.
“At the start, this incident seemed to take place on Eidul Azha [which was celebrated in June] But we cannot confirm it yet. The two families of murdered persons did not file any police report, therefore, a case was therefore registered on the government’s complaint, “said Rind.
The chief minister of Balutchistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, took note of the incident, ordering an in -depth investigation and a detailed report on the issue. He ordered the law enforcement agencies to stop all the authors without delay.
“The rule of law will not be compromised. Those who dispute the brief of the State will be firmly treated.
Rind has assured the public that the provincial government would take all legal measures to ensure that justice is done. “The government of Balutchistan will not remain a silent spectator in the face of such cruelty. All legal means will be used to translate those responsible for justice,” said Rind.
Meanwhile, the provincial government also called on the public for helping the identification of suspects. Citizens are invited to share any information that can help locate people involved.
