- YouTube Music has published a new feature that allows you to resume reading music on different devices
- It is similar to Spotify Connect, which gives you more controls in addition to cross -reading
- The carousel ‘speed dial’ in the YouTube music application also shows reading progression bars, which is another new addition
YouTube Music is not only a practical way of making ads without ads in your standard video player platform, it is one of the most popular music streaming services – and its new reading feature marks a long -awaited addition to its interface. Unfortunately, this is the one that Spotify has had for years.
In the latest version of the Youtube Music application (version 8.26.51), you can now resume musical reading on different devices, allowing you to move smoothly between your mobile device, your tablet and your computer to resume where you stopped. This means that you can start broadcasting from Youtube music on your phone, stopping in mid-head and resuming on another device.
In addition to the latest functionality of YouTube Music, those of Android Authority have spotted another little addition to the YouTube music interface. In your carousel ‘Speed Dial’, (a section where you can pin songs, albums and reading lists that you want to listen to frequently), you will see that there are new progress bars that represent your listening activity on other devices.
When you press a, a new “CV” option will appear, allowing you to recover the reading where you stopped.
Useful feature, but it’s still early
Although you have always been able to keep track of your listening habits when you move between the aircraft, the possibility of resuming where you stopped is not as fluid as Spotify Connect, which is the biggest rival of Youtube Music. The new feature was certainly long for Youtube music, but it still has a long way to go.
In the case of Spotify, not only can you resume reading between the devices, but this gives you even more power by allowing you to control music reading on one device using another. For example, Spotify could broadcast music from your smartphone, but you can always navigate in its desktop version to control what comes out of your phone by pressing the ‘Connect’ icon in the reading bar, which will display all the available devices.
This feature applies to devices such as the best smart speakers, which you can also control from your smartphone or computer. I find it particularly useful and I use it constantly, and Spotify Connect makes it much easier to go from my smart speaker to my smartphone when I need to leave the house, but I always want to listen to music along the way.
It is undeniable that the new CV feature is a great upgrade to the Youtube Music ecosystem, which, hopefully, will evolve over time to allow you to have more power on your reading. Right now, it’s always very fresh, so we will have to see what loyal users of YouTube music are thinking about change.
