President Donald Trump intensified the pressure on the Cleveland Guardians and the Washington commanders to change the names of their team to the Indians and the Redskins, respectively on Sunday.

Trump triggered two publications on social networks imploring the two teams to make the movements. Although he threatens to put the agreement of the RFK stadium of commanders in balance, he said that changing the names was “common sense”.

The republican representative of the state of Ohio, Brian Lorenz, seemed to agree with the president.

“You are not playing with chief Wahoo and you are waiting for Cleveland to forget,” he wrote in an article on X. “The Cleveland Indians were not only a team-it was summer nights, family memories, sorrows and miracles.

“We have not changed because the fans asked – we have changed because the elites told us. It’s time to bring back what made us.”

Trump first wrote on Truth Social that there was a “big complaint” so that commanders could be called the Redskins and the same with the guards.

“The Washington ‘What’s’ should immediately change its name in the Washington Redskins football team. There is a big complaint for that,” he wrote. “Likewise, the Cleveland Indians, one of the six original baseball teams, with a legendary past.

“Our great Indians, in massive numbers, want this to happen. Their inheritance and their prestige are systematically removed from them.

Later in the day, he reached the pressure.

Scott Turner, Hud secretary and former Redskins player, supports Trump pressure on the commanders to bring a nickname

“My statement on Washington Redskins has completely exploded, but only in a very positive way,” he added. “I can put a restriction on which if they do not change the name in” Washington Redskins “of origin, and get rid of the ridiculous nickname,” Washington commanders “, I will not agree to build a stadium in Washington. The team would be much more precious, and the agreement would be more exciting for everyone.

“Cleveland is expected to do the same with the Cleveland Indians. The owner of the Cleveland baseball team Matt Dolan, who is very political, lost three consecutive elections because of this ridiculous name change,” added Trump. “What he does not understand is that if he has changed the name of the Cleveland Indians, he could actually gain an election. The Indians are treated very unfairly. Make the Indians again (Miga)!”

While Matt Dolan has a minority participation in The Guardians, Paul Dolan announced the change in 2021.

Cleveland had been known as the Indians since 1915. Dolan previously said that the decision to explore the name change came from “an alarm clock or an epiphany” after the death of George Floyd.

Cleveland was nicknamed the blues in 1902, then the Napoleons and the naps until 1915, when the organization changed the name into Indians. The team was known as the Indians throughout the 2021 season.

Guardian president Chris Antonetti responded to Trump pressure on Sunday afternoon. He said it was not something that the organization had in mind.

The team told PK Press Club Digital that she had no comment.
