- The new pre -order lists for MSI Claw A8 appeared in European retailers online
- The prices suggest that the A8 claw will cost $ 1,000 / £ 1,000, similar to the claw 8 AI +
- It may be a difficult sale, in the same vein as his counterpart Ai + Claw 8
Laptop players were looking forward to the beginnings of the Ryzen Z2 Extreme processor from AMD, which promises improved portable game performance. Fortunately, MSI Claw A8 is officially the first to be launched using the powerful chip, but the first announcements indicate a unsightly price.
As reported by Videocardz, European retailers have pre -orders available for MSI Claw A8, with lists indicating a price in the same stage as MSI Claw 8 AI +. On Alza.de, it is available for € 976 (excluding tax, € 820). There is still no announcements in the United States or the United Kingdom, so it is not exactly what will be the final price labels-but all the signs indicate a price of just under $ 1,000 / £ 1,000.
Based on early benchmarks, the performance of the A8 claw is very similar to the CLAW 8 AI +, which uses the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V processor. As obvious below (thanks to Lines Tech on YouTube), Shadow of the Tomb Raider At an average of 52FPS to 1080p on the claw 8 AI +, while the A8 claw has an average of 49FPS at 1080p on the same graphic parameters.
Whether it comes down to the extreme Ryzen Z2 of the A8 label being slightly lower than the main Ultra 7 258V, or the 24 GB of RAM of the old (which is strangely 16 GB of RAM in the reference video) instead of 32 GB, is not yet clear. However, it seems to be a price slightly under the MSI 8 AI + claw ($ 900 / £ 899 / $ 1,799 in), and it is not a good look.
Analysis: if the Claw MSI 8 AI + at $ 899 is a difficult sale, then the MSI Claw A8 too
Having finally used the CLAW MSI 8 AI + (to come to come soon), it is easily one of the best pocket computers of this generation with solid game performance.
Unfortunately, however, it is always a very difficult sale at $ 899 / £ 899 / $ 1,799 in. If the A8 claw with less RAM alongside a potentially lower processor for play performance is at the same price or only slightly cheaper, I doubt that this competes on the portable market.
Again, I must emphasize that there are no registered in the United Kingdom or the United States for MSI Claw A8, but the price among European retailers gives us a strong idea of what they might be. It should also be noted that the prices on China products will probably affect prices, as we have already seen with the Claw 8 MSI 8 AI +, so that it can place the new claw in a lower position on the market.
While the Steam Deck OLED is a lower performance point of view, it still offers enough for an excellent portable game experience at $ 549 / £ 479 / $ 899 in. It is also in the same region that the Asus Rog Ally at $ 649.99 / £ 599 (currently $ 449.99 on sale) using the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.
If the Z2 Extreme does not prove to be a huge jump from its predecessor, then I do not see the new claw A8 extinguishing its counterpart Claw 8 AI + – especiallyIf problems with stock and availability arise.
