PM reaffirms the safety of Chinese nationals as a top priority

Islamabad:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Tuesday that the protection of Chinese nationals in Pakistan remains an absolute priority for the government, stressing its importance in the context of the country’s economic future and bilateral cooperation with China.

Chairing a high -level meeting on the security agreements for Chinese citizens, the Prime Minister said that the creation of a safe environment and adapted to business was essential to maintain the confidence of Chinese companies operating in Pakistan.

“The confidence of Chinese companies in the Pakistani economy is extremely important for our economic future,” he said.

He underlined the continuous efforts to strengthen the security of Chinese nationals across the country, including in the federal capital, citing safe city projects as a key element of this strategy.

These surveillance and response systems, he said, have been implemented nationally in accordance with international standards.

“China is our friendly country, and the security of our Chinese brothers is our most important responsibility,” said Prime Minister Shehbaz, while noting that the Chinese-Pakistani Economic Corridor (CPEC) had entered its second phase, focused on business collaboration with business, further increasing the importance of secure conditions for Chinese citizens.

Given this, the Prime Minister ordered the authorities to take special measures in all airports to facilitate the arrival and departure of Chinese nationals. He also called for the inclusion of city surveillance systems in complete safety in all future housing projects.

During the briefing, the Minister of the Interior and senior officials updated the Prime Minister on the security protocols in place, stressing that special arrangements had been taken nationally in the light of potential security threats.

Chinese nationals are currently receiving security escort services for travel, has been informed of the meeting. The federal and provincial governments work in coordination on these measures, added the briefing, noting that safe city projects were extended to several urban centers.

The meeting was followed by the Minister of the Interior Mohin Naqvi, the Minister of Information Attaullah Tarar, Minister of State Talal Chaudhry, the special assistant of Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi and other senior officials.
