Pcsir faces a probe on an alleged falsification report

Islamabad:

A major controversy broke out at the Pakistan Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) following allegations of falsification of the report and abuse of being able to involve the President and Managing Director of the PCSIR, Lahore. In response, the Minister of Sciences and Technology, Dr. Khaliq Hussain Many, ordered an investigation and trained a committee to investigate the issue.

According to an official complaint submitted by MS Credible Business Hub PVT limited to the Minister, a sample of Bétel nuts mentioned by the Ministry of Plant Protection (DPP) was initially declared apt for human consumption on July 16, 2025 (Ref: GET04-11/07) by PCSIR Lahore. However, a contradictory report was published a day later, on July 17, 2025, declaring the same sample unfit for consumption, which raises serious concerns concerning the manipulation and violations of the procedure.

The CEO of MS Credible Business HUB PVT Limited accused Dr. Hussain Abidi and Dr Coratul Ain of orchestrating the alteration of test results for ultitiges. He said that manipulation was deliberate, intended to harm the commercial interests of unrestricted companies on the president.

In response to these serious allegations, the Federal Minister of Science and Technology ordered an official investigation, appointing joint secretary Bilal Butt at the head of the investigation committee. The probe will aim to determine the cause of contradictory laboratory reports and to assign responsibility.

The initiates suggested that this could be one of the many irregularities under the mandate of Dr. Abidi, with multiple allegations already circulating within the ministry. The result of the survey could have a great significance on the reputation of PCSIR and for the business world which depends on its reports for regulatory authorization and trade.

This incident highlights the urgent need for transparency and responsibility in public test laboratories, especially when their reports have commercial and direct health implications.

The president of the PCSIR, Dr. Hussain Abdi, did not answer the question and the allegations of the company.
