- Certain exclusive Pixel 9 photo editing tools could go to older phones
- Auto frame and reimagine IA tools can deploy more widely
- Pixel 6 handsets are based to upgrade
The Google Pixel 9 series was launched with a stack of IA photo editing features which were exclusive to these devices – but it now seems that Google is preparing to push some of these features to older Pixel combines.
As spotted @AsseDeDebug and Android Authority, the latest version of the Google Photos application for the Android features code which suggests both automatic frame and reimagine will be made available to Pixel 6 and more recent phones.
Auto Frame allows you to make sure that the main subject of your photo is well placed in this photo – which could involve cropping the image or extending the background using AI magic. There is also a similar feature on the best Samsung phones.
Regarding reimagine, this allows you to modify parts of your photo using a text prompt and an AI image generation. You may want to add a car to a street scene, for example, or a tree to a landscape of nature – if you can imagine, the reimagine in Google Photos can do it.
Pixel exclusivities
Google hasn’t said anything officially yet, it is therefore not clear when these new features reach handsets such as Google Pixel 8 (assuming that Google follows it), but deployment should not be far away.
It is logical that Google wants to put as much of its writing features of AI photos available as many people as possible, assuming that their phones have the processing power necessary to execute them.
Although the maintenance of features exclusive to new handsets can generate sales, it is not clear how many users have upgraded to Pixel 9 just to use the features of the AI image – although we have been largely impressed by what they are capable of.
In less than a month, we will do it all, when the Google Pixel 10 series obtains its great disclosure on Wednesday August 20. Expect much more discussions on the power of the AI, and perhaps certain features that are only available on the new Pixel 10.
