- Patriot Memory MD330 Storage Hub provides a 100 W load and a 4K output, all of a small USB-C port
- Storage goes to 1 TB, but transfer speeds and encryption are always a mystery
- Manages the video output and file storage, but pressure reliability is not guaranteed
Patriot Memory introduced the MD330 Storage Hub, a device that combines a unique set of capacities in a single unit.
The company claims that it offers high -speed load, local storage and a 4K video output via a single USB -C port – features rarely found, especially in a device weighing only 21 grams.
This makes MD330 less a refinement of existing accessories and more an attempt to redefine what a USB hub or a reception station can be.
Designed for tight workflows
The MD330 connects via USB-C and supports the 4K display output, with mirror and extended screen modes, and also provides up to 100 W of power, which theoretically allows it to load laptops or portable consoles while being connected to an external display.
That it works reliably under prolonged use, especially with devices eager for power, something that Patriot has not yet demonstrated.
These capacities are generally reserved for more bulky configurations, so that questions remain on thermal handling and energy stability.
Beyond video and load, the MD330 incorporates flash storage, available in capacity from 128 GB to 1 TB, which transforms the center into a portable archive for the media or project files.
However, transfer speeds are not specified, and there is no mention of the compatibility of encryption or file system – and without these details, it is difficult to determine if the storage is suitable for something beyond occasional use.
The MD330 aims to simplify mobile configurations by combining a food bank, a USB hub and a quay in a single device, but that does not guarantee consistent performance.
The execution of the exit from the display and the supply delivery at the same time could combat the device, especially if file transfers are also in progress.
The way he manages the bandwidth and thermal load through these tasks will finally determine if it is really useful or simply an overvalued accessory.
When writing the editorial’s moment, Patriot did not reveal the price of MD330, a key detail that could strongly influence its appeal.
