Complete spoilers immediately follow for Foundation Season 3 episodes 2 and 3. Now go back if you haven’t seen them.
The latest plan of `Shadows in the Math ” reveals that brother Dawn of this season (Cassian Bilton), that is to say one of the three Empire leaders, secretly conversed with none other than Gal Dornick (Lou Llobell). As we learn, the pair has held many secret holographic calls while these former enemies try to find a way to work together to fight the growing threat posed by the mule.
Dawn and Gaal have also been in wicks for some time. Indeed, the opening scene of “When A Book Find You” shows Dawn by visiting the library of the Empire to search for the original texts of Hari Seldon on psychohistory. He has become more curious about the scientific studies of Seldon since he learned them for the first time via the radiant prime, that is to say the object which contains the various predictions of Seldon for humanity.
In short: Dawn’s interest in psychohistory finally leads to a meeting with Gaal in a restaurant, which takes place three years before the first episode of season 3, on the Bashold planet of the Trantor Empire. This is where two of FoundationThe main characters are temporarily accepted to stay in touch and collaborate on a plan to fight against the mule because it constitutes a great threat to the Empire and the Foundation. And, while Gaal has been “ready to face” this devouring quest since last season, she will need all the help she can get, including the Empire. After all, my enemy’s enemy is my friend, right?

This does not mean that there will be no moments of tension and mistrust between dawn and Gaal. The Foundation and the Empire have been enemies for centuries at this stage and, according to Llobell and Bilton, it is not a lost conclusion that they will continue to embark on one of the best third season of Apple TV +.
“You see them [Empire and The Foundation] Trying to come together to face the mule, “said Llobell.” But, there are still tensions. They are not sure they can trust themselves – in the end, I don’t think they can.
“But, it’s always incredibly satisfactory to see these characters together in the same scene [NB: Dawn and Gaal last appeared on the screen together in the season 1 premiere]”Llobell continued.” They come to a point where their goals line up, and I am really delighted that fans see where things go from here. “”

“Previously, it’s empire against the foundation, but this season is more interpersonal,” said Bilton.
“What is interesting in the relationship of Dawn and Gaal is that two things happen. These are both ambassadors for the way of their team to perceive the future, so you have these ideals on the way the galaxy should be shaped constantly by pouring the heads, so their first meeting in person becomes this game of cat and mouse as they cut the other part.
“At the same time, you have two young people who try to have an impact,” added Bilton. “What does it mean to be someone with the spotlights formed on them when it all starts to collapse? And how can they ensure a heritage that will last and allow the story to look at them with kindness? So, when it is a poker game and the relationship between them is a kind of flowers of friendship because they have to trust themselves.”
Do you think that the dynamic “Frenemy” of Dawn and Gaal will be strong, or is it condemned to fail? Let me know in the comments.
