Islamabad:
Pakistan and China have reaffirmed their “all-time” strategic cooperative partnership as a chief of the Staff of the Army (COAS), Marshal Syed Asim Munnir concluded a series of high-level meetings with Chinese political and military leaders in Beijing on Friday.
According to inter-service public relations (ISPR), the visit underlined the growing depth of politico-military ties between the two nations and their shared determination to advance regional peace and stability.
During his meetings with Chinese vice-president Han Zheng and the Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi, discussions focused on the evolving regional and global political landscape, connectivity in the Chine-Pakistan Economic corridor (CPEC) and the need for coordinated responses to shared geopolitical challenges.
The two parties expressed their satisfaction with the depth of bilateral commitment and reiterated their commitment to sovereign equality, multilateral cooperation and long -term regional stability.
Chinese leaders praised the armed forces of Pakistan as “an cornerstone of resilience” and a “vital contributor to peace in South Asia”.
China, Pakistan seeks to deepen defense ties
On the military side, Marshal Asim Munnir met General Zhang Youxia, vice-president of the Central Military Commission (CMC), General Chen, political commissioner of the APL army and Lieutenant-General Cai Zhai Jun, chief of staff of the ALP army. The COAS was presented with an honorary guard at the siege of the APL army, symbolizing the longtime camaraderie between the two armed forces.
The commitments have presented detailed exchanges on defense and security cooperation, in particular collaboration against terrorism, joint training, the modernization of defense and the improvement of institutional links. Emphasis has been put on the improvement of operational interoperability and strategic coordination to counter hybrid and transnational threats.
