Earlier this week, Balutchistan police arrested 14 suspects for the “honor murder” of a couple accused of having an affair, including a local tribal chief who would have ordered their deaths, officials announced on Monday.
The murders, which occurred last month, attracted great attention after a video showed that the couple was shot. The man who killed the woman was his brother, acting on behalf of the family and the tribe, said provincial police chief Moazzam Jah Ansari Reuters.
The chief of the tribe, Sher Baz Satakzai, had ordered the murder, he added. Satakzai was one of those arrested, according to chief minister Sarfraz Bugti, who addressed the media at a press conference in Quetta, the provincial capital. “We will make sure they will all be prosecuted,” said Bugti.
