Lahore:

The atmosphere of the Assembly of Punjab has warmed up while the legislators on the sides of the Treasury and the opposition clashed, inside and outside the Chambers of the Assembly, following an incident in which an OPA of the opposition slapped a treasury legislator. The slap came after allegations of derogatory language were used by the Member of the Treasury, which has been short.

Apart from the assembly chambers, reports have emerged that certain private staff of the AMP of the Treasury had used abusive language against the opposition MPa. Consequently, the acting president, Zaheer Iqbal Channer, suspended two opposition AMPs for 15 sessions.

While the procedure of the Chamber began under the chairmanship of the acting speaker Channer, the opposition entered the chamber by singing slogans to protest against the disqualification of the three PTI legislators, including the head of the opposition to the Assembly of Punjab, Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar.

This disqualification followed the sentences pronounced by the anti -terrorist courts compared to the incidents of May 9.

The provincial minister of parliamentary affairs, Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman, firmly opposed the conduct of the opposition, claiming that they violated their commitment to act in accordance with rule 223 of the rules of procedure.

The deputy chief of the opposition, Muhammad Moeenuddin Riaz, asked the president to arrest procedures on the agenda, asking for permission to speak of the condemnations granted to PTI legislators, including the head of the opposition Bhachar.

The Minister of the Treasury, Rehman said that Bhachar was like a brother for them, but stressed that the government was not responsible for the penalty. He said Bhachar had been sentenced by the Court for his actions.

The acting speaker, Channer, said that discussions on court decisions would not be authorized, but allowed the opposition to express solidarity with Bhachar. While the AMPs of the PTI expressed their dissatisfaction with the government on the penalties, the legislators of the Treasury also criticized the opposition, in particular by stressing the incidents of May 9.

PTI’s chief whip, Rana Shahbaz Ahmad, holding the Holy Quran, questioned the house, asking him if he looked like a terrorist and why several trees had been recorded against him if he had not been involved in terrorism activities. This caused a reaction from the acting president Channer, who urged legislators to avoid politicizing the Holy Quran.

The opposition then staged a boycott of token, arguing that their privileges had been raped due to the sentences. Upon his return, an argument between the deputy chief of the opposition Riaz and the acting president Channer intensified when the opposition legislator Khalid Nisar Dogar rushed to the treasury benches and slapped the MPA PML-N Hassan Riaz, accusing him of using an abusive language despite repeated requests to stop.

The incident quickly degenerated, both sides facing. Some higher legislators intervened to calm the situation. The acting speaker, Channer, condemned the behavior, declaring: “Dogar Sahib, you did not act in an appropriate manner. Such conduct is not tolerable to the assembly.”

The house was adjourned for five minutes while the acting speaker Channer summoned the legislators on both sides to his room. The two parties have condemned the altercation.

The side of the treasure expressed his regret of the attack, while the deputy chief of the opposition Riaz noticed that the use of a derogatory language was also unacceptable. He added that, according to the president’s order, the question should have been referred to the ethics committee concerned.

The acting speaker, Channer, said: “Today, I consider that it is one of the darkest days of this assembly.” He stressed that the question was not only about two legislators, but also to the dignity of the house itself. He decided to suspend Khalid Nisar Dogar for 15 sessions.

While the opposition left the house singing slogans, the MPA Sheikh Imtiaz underlined a lack of quorum, which caused a response from Channer confirming that the quorum was encountered. However, Imtiaz persisted with his objection, also leading to her suspension for 15 sessions.

After finishing the articles on the agenda, the acting speaker, Channer, adjourned the house until 2 p.m. on July 29.

While the legislators on both sides entered the media room, another warm -up broke out. However, no physical attack was reported this time. Apart from the Houses of the Assembly, some private members would have shouted and used an abusive language against PTI legislators.

The opposition condemned the actions of private members, describing them as “hooliganism” and declaring that they would not bow against fascism and cruelty despite their corner.
