Tulane’s basketball star Gregg Glenn III dies at 22 in “a tragic accident”

Tulane’s basketball star Gregg Glenn III died in what the university called a “tragic accident” on Monday.

Glenn was 22 years old.

“It is with deep sadness that I contact you today,” wrote the vice-president of student affairs Sarah Cunningham in a letter to the “community of Tulane”. “We have lost a darling member of our university community, Gregg Glenn III, who died in a tragic accident this weekend. He was a talented student-athlete who enriched our lives with his mind, dedication and passion for sports and academics.

“Gregg was an exceptional athlete in our male basketball team and a person who brought joy and light to those around him. His commitment to excellence inspired many of us.”

Cunningham’s announcement did not disclose the details of “the tragic accident”.

“The oldest of his brothers and sisters, Gregg was a major health and well-being of Pompano Beach, Florida. Known for his contagious personality, his positive energy and his kindness, he brightened each piece he entered. Well known in the Southern Florida region for its basketball prowess, a lot is missing.

“Let us remember Gregg not only for his achievements in sport, but for the kindness and warmth he shared with everyone. He will forever remain a part of our university family.”

Glenn was a product of Calvary Christian High School in Florida, where he became a prospect of division I.

He started his university basketball career in Michigan, where he only played four games in his first year.

Glenn would transfer to Tulane for the 2023-24 season, where he played mainly on the bench, with an average of 3.6 points out of 9.7 minutes per game.

Last season, Glenn had a year in small groups, starting the 34 games at the front. He collected an average of 10.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 3.1 assists.
