Dallas cowboys continue to be one of the country’s most spoken sports franchises. But the former sports columnist and longtime television commentator, Michael Wilbon, suggested that the conversation on “the American team” should be tempered.
During their peak, which included three Super Bowl titles in the first half of the 1990s, cowboys were known as “America’s Team”. The club also won a pair of titles in the 1970s and had lists filled with star players.
But since the Super Bowl’s victory during the 1995 season, success has been sparse. The franchise has not reached a conference championship since this season.

But limited victories on the ground did not prevent the national media from discussing the team. Wilbon argued that Dallas becomes unimportant once the calendar turns around January.

“The cowboys, they are not in the great action late,” said Wilbon in the episode of “Pardon The Interruption” during a discussion on the owner of the longtime team Jerry Jones.

Wilbon also explained that he mainly ignores what Jones says during his frequent press conferences.
“There is nothing that Jerry Jones says I am careful. Nothing,” added Wilbon. “Because trying to decipher what he says and giving it meaning is a fucking time, and I don’t have much. Jerry Jones likes to speak. He likes to talk to a room with journalists and talk. I am sure there is no one in the room, he would be held there and would speak.”
While the cowboys have not found their way to the NFL summit for almost three decades, Jones has reached the ultimate in terms of commercial operations. In 2024, an assessment of Forbes estimated that cowboys were worth around $ 10.1 billion, making the franchise the most precious sports team in the world.

Jones is in the midst of a negotiation of extension of contract closely with the representatives of Micah Parson. Jones commented on the situation as he weighs the opportunity to offer Parsons a long -term agreement that would probably make the Rusher Pass without the highest paid quarter of the NFL.
