The reservation of a massage may not need soft music and small conversation if you prefer to lie in front of a robot with a silicone point arm and a brain has instead. It is the promise of Robosculptor and his massage system powered by AI.
The mechanical masseur is designed not to imitate a human therapist, but to use the AI analysis integrated into the machine to provide personalized treatment which is the same every time you climb on the table.
Robosculptor has just started to deploy in the United States, and the company hopes to make people comfortable with the idea of a robot making their massage. After all, massage is one of the most personal and tactile services. Qualified practitioners use customer training, experience and comments to provide care. Robosculptor does not try to pass as human in his muscle manipulation – the whole height is the opposite. The idea is that AI will not be tired, spent a day off or do not forget to treat your body.
Robosculptor scans your body with cameras, builds a 3D card in real time, then the AI guides the arm to execute specified treatments, which have names like “Inner Peace” and “Vital Flow Express”. It is a massage as an optimized protocol. And for some people, this may be exactly what they want.

The company is probably right to focus on making people feel good about experience. It is much more intense than the vibrations of a massage chair, and people intrinsically make a human formed to pay attention to small clues about your comfort or discomfort, that a machine does not have empathy and the sensitivity to be identified.
This is partly why Robosculptor targets fitness centers and high -end spas, places where coherent performance with many customers are essential for the company. You are less likely to meet one in a shop massage studio. Massage therapists may not be delighted, of course. Robosculptor says that the device does not replace human experts and that it can only manage the most basic and reproducible types of massage. But, it is easy to imagine that, by hunting efficiency and margins, some operators could decide that the robot is “good enough” for most customers and reducing human staff. It would be a loss not only for therapists, but for customers who appreciate their relationship with their massage therapist.
These theoretical problems should be addressed because the Robosculptor is not the only one as a robotic massage supplier. Massage Robotics began its double robot weapons over three years ago, and hardware and IA software has only improved since then. AI will learn from a wider range of types of body, protocols and results. The robot arm you meet today could be curiosity. The one over five years could be indistinguishable from the best therapist you have ever had.
So, even if your massage next week may not yet be delivered with a menu of parameters, it could happen earlier than you imagine. And you might not hate him. You can enter a fitness center, reserve a 25 -minute lymphatic hunt and get exactly the same experience each week afterwards.
