- Apple claims that he “makes good progress” on his next Siri features
- But many forums are overflowing with Siri frustrated user publications
- Cook says that Siri’s improved features will arrive at one point in 2026
It is not a secret for anyone that Apple’s vocal assistant is lagging behind its rivals, and this idea was reinforced by Apple’s inability to keep its Siri promises from the summer of 2024, with its most interesting new ideas anywhere to see a year later. However, this situation does not seem to disturb the CEO of Apple, Tim Cook, who says that the company “makes good progress on a more personalized Siri” (via MacRumors).
The announcement occurred during the recent Apple results call, where Cook explained that it expects the new Siri – Apple Intelligence Siri features – to be available “next year”. This is something that Apple said before, but it probably does not appeal to users who look forward to improvements to virtual assistance.
Indeed, you can see that playing on forums and communities on the Internet. Subredit Siri, for example, is full of publications describing the state of Apple’s artificial intelligence assistance (AI). Browse it today and you will find articles entitled “Siri is a total disappointment”, “agree, Siri cannot even define timeries” and “Siri is no longer Siri”. It makes reading quite dark, and it seems to have aggravated only in recent months.
While Siri seduced the world when it was launched in 2011, it was quickly exceeded by its rivals – even before AI assistants as Chatgpt are. With the advent of AI, Siri’s weaknesses were fully exposed, which prompted Apple to rush to upgrade it. Unfortunately, we have still not seen the results of this work, and although Tim Cook may seem optimistic, users are clearly exasperated.
Slow progress
Currently, Siri can do some basic tasks for you, such as the definition of timer and tell you the weather forecast. For more advanced requests, he can return to Chatgpt, but that only highlights his own limitations as a comparison.
To put this properly, Apple works on some new features that he unveiled in his WWDC 2024 in June 2024. At the time, Apple said that Siri would soon be with a better consciousness of the content on the screen, an understanding of your personal context and powerful tools to carry out actions in the applications.
But in March 2025, Apple told Pundit John Gruber that “it would take us more time than what we thought to offer these features”, the company adding that it would deploy “the coming year”. Although there is a certain hope that this would mean that the features would arrive later in 2025, Apple confirmed to WWDC 2025 that it was launching in 2026.
Given how the way most Siri’s features feel compared to its competitors could look like a long wait. Tim Cook could be optimistic about Siri’s prospects, but if Reddit publications are something, it could take more to appease some more and more exasperated Apple fans.
