Islamabad:

The Iranian president, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, arrived on Saturday during a two -day state visit to hold bilateral talks with the Pakistani leaders.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Muhammad Ishaq Dar and the Minister of Information and Dissemination of Attaullah Tarar received the Iranian President and his delegation at the Nur Khan air base.

Dr. Pezeshkian is accompanied by a high -level delegation, notably the Iranian Minister of Foreign Affairs Abbas Araghchi, Higher Ministers and other senior officials.

Dr. Pezeshkian will meet President Asif Ali Zardari and will also hold talks at the delegation with the Pakistani Prime Minister and his cabinet ministers.

A greeting of 21 guns was granted in honor of President Dr Pezeshkian upon his arrival, and two children dressed in traditional outfit, presented bouquets to him.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement: “This marks the first official visit to Dr Pezeshkian in Pakistan as president of Iran.”

It can be remembered that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif visited Iran for the last time on May 26, 2025.

The visit should further strengthen fraternal relations between Pakistan and Iran.

Upon his arrival in Lahore earlier, Dr. Pezeshkian received a warm welcome from the chief minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, and the Muslim League of Pakistan (PML-N), Nawaz Sharif. His visit was marked by a high -level meeting and a visit to the mausoleum of Allama Iqbal.

Defense Ministers

The honorable Minister of Defense of the Islamic Republic of Iran Brig, Aziz Nasir-Zadeh, held a bilateral meeting with the Honorable Minister of Defense Khawaja Muhammad Asif in Islamabad.

During the meeting, the two parties discussed questions of mutual interest, in particular regional security, efforts to combat terrorism and the ways to improve defense cooperation between the two neighboring countries.

The ministers have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen bilateral ties and to promote peace and stability in the region.

The Minister of Defense of Pakistan expressed his appreciation of the continuous commitment of Iran and stressed the importance of defense diplomacy to meet shared security challenges.

The Iranian Defense Minister thanked the government of Pakistan for the warm welcome and reiterated Iran’s desire to build stronger defense ties according to mutual respect, shared values and confidence.

The meeting ended with a positive note, the two leaders expressing optimism about the future of Pakistani-Iranian defense relations and committing to continuing to work together for the prosperity and security of the region.
