PMD warns against wet and stormy week

Islamabad:

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has planned a wet week for the upper and power plant regions, driven by weak monsoon currents that will intensify on Monday (today), followed by the strengthening of a wave to the west on Tuesday (tomorrow).

According to the National Weather PMD forecast, the rain forecast center and Thonders with isolated heavy falls are expected in Azad Jammu and cashmere (AJK); Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Punjab and Islamabad until Thursday.

“More rains with Wind-Thundershower predicted during the coming week,” he said. “Low monsoon currents permanently enter the country’s upper parts / power plants and are likely to intensify from August 4. A West wave is likely to strengthen on August 5.”

In the influence of these weather conditions, the PMD alert said, the rain / Thundershower with isolated heavy falls is expected in the Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, Mirpur in Ajk.

From August 5 to 7, a thunderstorm / thunderstorm with isolated heavy falls with occasional shortcomings is expected in Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar in GB, PMD forecasts.

Rain-Vent / Thundershower with heavy isolated falls with occasional shortcomings is expected in Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Shangla, Battagram, Manshra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Biner, Malakand, Bajaur, Mohmand, Khyber, Orakzai Kurram, Kohat, Peshawar Charsadda, now. Hangu, Karak, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Waziristan, Tank and Dera Ismail Khan from August 4 to 7.

Rain-Wind / Thundershower is also probably in DG Khan, Bhakkar, Layyah, Multan and Bahawalpur on Wednesday, August 6.

For the rest of the country, the PMD mainly provides for hot and humid weather in most regions of Balutchistan, although Rain-Wind / Thundershower in the northeast / southern parts, notably Barkhan, Musakhel, Loralai, Sibbi, Zhob, Qilla Saifullah and Khuzdar on Wednesday.

The PMD warned that the heavy rains could generate sudden floods in local draws of Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Manshra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Biner, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Murree, Gallliyat, Rawalpindi, North-East Punjab and Ajk.

He also warned of urban floods in the low areas of Islamabad and Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore and Siallekot during the week.

The PMD said that dominant weather conditions increased the risk of overflowing in the glacial lake (GLOF), sudden floods and landslides in GB vulnerable glacial regions.
