Islamabad:

At least 299 people, including 140 children, lost their lives and 715 others – among the 239 children – were injured in sudden floods and torrential rains that have swept the vulnerable areas of the country since June 26, according to the latest figures published by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).

Since June 26, sudden floods and torrential rains have caused general destruction, damaging a total of 1,676 houses in affected areas. The violent time has also led to the loss of 428 cattle, aggravating the impact on local communities.

According to the NDMA, a total of 299 people were killed – 140 children, 102 men and 57 women. The breakdown of the 715 wounded data showed that among them, there were 239 children, 204 women and 272 men.

The NDMA carried out 223 in -depth rescue operations, evacuating 2,880 individuals from the regions struck by the floods.

In addition, he also distributed 13,466 rescue articles in vulnerable areas, including 1,999 tents, 61 ration bags, 350 life vests, 1,122 hygiene kits, 146 maze pumps to support affected families.
