- Google’s latest Pixel software update corrects some high -level security defects
- It takes place now for eligible pixel phones and tablets
- The update also corrects a problem with the “return button”
If you have a Google Pixel phone, make sure you have downloaded the latest security fix, because it includes several important updates that solve certain potentially critical problems with your smartphone you may not even know.
There are some high -level security defects that the patch is solved, as well as vulnerability of the “critical” system. According to Google, this defect can be executed remotely (in combination with other bugs), and moreover, it can be activated without any user interaction.
Yikes.
Google has not entered details on hacking beyond these details, but that does not look like the one he would like to leave without attacking.
Beyond safety improvements, Google has also apparently resolved a return button bug, which sometimes did not work for users.
Here is a demo of the return button not to work on Android 16. I took a bug report and I submitted it to Google Engineering with this reproductive screen. I hope they understand it. pic.twitter.com/nemifqqrvbJune 14, 2025
As you can see in the video above, users fell back on their Android 16 pixel phone and nothing would happen – which is not ideal if you want to leave an application or come back to another screen.
It may have taken almost two months, but after Beta users obtained the fix in July, the return button problem should now be solved on all devices running the stable version of Android 16 on their phone.
Are you ready to update?
If you want to upgrade your Pixel device, the correction now takes place towards all tablets and pixel phones from Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro. These two phones were launched in 2021.
With activated automatic updates, you may have already updated. However, to find it manually, you can go to your Settings application, and then search for the system update and press the Check Updates button to see if you are up to date on your software.
If you have the August correction, then you are ready, although it can take up to a week so that the updates are available to everyone – so if you are always updated in July and see no options to install August, don’t worry, you will just have to wait a little longer for a fix.
