Alarming population growth rate: PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif called on Pakistan’s annual demographic growth rate of 2.55%Thursday, an alarming trend requiring immediate and coordinated political action to solve the problem.

The Prime Minister chaired a high -level meeting at the Prime Minister’s office to examine the challenges posed by the growing population of Pakistan and to deliberate on effective strategies to manage it, said a press release from the Prime Minister’s office.

“We need global planning to ensure that our growing population, especially young people, becomes a productive part of the economy,” he said. “A large segment of our population includes young people, which are the most precious asset for our country.”

He stressed that the government took several initiatives to empower young people and integrate them into the economic current of the country. “Opportunities are created to allow our young people to play a central role in national development,” he added.

Speaking on gender inclusion, Prime Minister Shehbaz stressed the critical importance of women’s participation in the workforce. “Women constitute an important part of our human capital. We must ensure greater employment opportunities for them,” he said.

The Prime Minister asked the training of a committee to develop a complete and effective national policy, in close collaboration with provincial governments. “A unified and strategic response is the need for the time,” he said, calling for a coordinated federal-professional framework to tackle the problems related to the population.

He also underlined the importance of launching an awareness campaign on a national level to educate citizens on the implications of uncontrolled demographic growth, in particular in the context of sustainable economic development.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister was informed of various proposals and recommendations to manage population growth. Officials have stressed that any long -term solution would require active provincial collaboration and public commitment to the local level.

The meeting was participated by the Federal Minister of Planning and Development, Dr Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister of Education, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Federal Minister of Information and Dissemination Attaullah Tarar, Federal Minister of Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, Federal Minister of Law Nazeer, as well as senior officials relevant.

LHC CJ Mian Allah Nawaz

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed sorrow on Wednesday as to the disappearance of the former chief judge of the High Court of Lahore, Mian Allah Nawaz.

The Prime Minister, in a statement, said that the late judge Mian Allah Nawaz had rendered valuable services to the judiciary.

“In this hour of sorrow, all our sympathies are with the family of the deceased,” said the Prime Minister and prayed for peace for the soul and the force disappeared so that the bereaved family suffered the loss.
