Islamabad:
The Pakistan Electoral Commission (ECP) has registered for hearing a reference for the disqualification of the OMAR AYUB National Assembly, given his conviction in a case linked to May 9, 2023 riot.
According to a cause list published by the Polls Outsiigh Authority on Thursday, an ECP bench will hear the reference on August 12. Babar Nawaz Khan from PML-N has deposited the petition.
A special anti-terrorism court of Faisalabad on July 31 sentenced the best leaders of the PTI, notably Omar Ayub, the head of the opposition Senate Shibli Faraz, the head of the Sic Hamid Raza and Zartaj Gul, up to 10 years in prison.
