The National Assembly (NA) removed three Pakistani leaders Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) from the main parliamentary positions following the disqualification of several party legislators on Friday.
Omar Ayub was stripped of the position of opposition chief, while Zartaj Gul lost his role as parliamentary chief and Ahmad Chattha was deleted as deputy parliamentary chief.
A special special anti-terrorist (ATC) in Fairebad, earlier this month, sentenced the best leaders of the PTI up to 10 years in prison in the cases concerning the demonstrations of May 9.
Ayub, head of the opposition in the Senate Shibli Faraz, Zartaj Gul, Mna Sahibzada Hamid Raza and former Mna Sheikh Rashid Shafiq were among the 108 PTI leaders sentenced from 185 involved in cases while 77 others were acquitted.
The room awarded to the opposition chief was also reproduced from the party. The speaker informed the Chamber of the disqualification of the members under the assembly rules. Consultations are underway between the opposition and the speaker for the appointment of a new leader of the opposition,
The independents supported by PTI will have to submit new appointments for the posts of parliamentary chief and deputy parliamentary chief.
AYUB has also been struck off from the Public Accounts Committee and the Finance Committee.

Na also withdrew the members of 15 permanent committees from seven legislators belonging to PTI, eliminating three senior key positions.
Sahibzada Hamid Raza was stripped of the presidency of the Standing Human Rights Committee, while Zartaj Gul lost belonging to the same committee. Rai Hassan Nawaz was moved as president of the Standing Railway Committee.
The changes follow the disqualification of several members of the PTI by the Pakistan Electoral Commission (ECP).
The ATC had previously issued arrest mandates against 50 PTI leaders in multiple cases related to protests recorded in various Islamabad police stations before the party’s scheduled demonstration on August 5. The mandates, published by judge Abul Hasnat Zulqarnain, included eminent personalities such as former president Arif Alvi, the chief minister of Kp Ali Amin Gandapur, Asad Qaiser, Hammad Azhar, Faisal Javed, Salman Akram Raja, Rauf Hassan, Murad Saeed and Ahmad Niazi.
The mandates of 41 PTI leaders were issued after nine other people published earlier as part of a case registered in the Karachi Company police station.
