ECP informs Mishal Yousafzai as a senator after the resignation of Sania Nishtar

The Pakistan Electoral Commission (ECP) officially informed the election of the former special assistant in Mishal Yousafzai in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur in a siege reserved for KP women on Thursday.

According to the ECP, Yousafzai will serve in the upper room until March 11, 2027, after the resignation of Sania Nishtar. The notification was also sent to the Senate secretariat.

Yousafzai should take an oath as a senator during the next session of the Senate. Political observers say that its entry into the upper room could add a new voice of KP, with expectations that it will focus on the development, empowerment of women and education in the province.

The by -election was held to fill the vacant seat by the resignation of Dr Sania Nishtar from PTI. In the ballot organized in the KP assembly, Yousafzai collected 86 votes, while the joint candidate of the opposition Mehtab Zafar, obtained 53 votes.
