Tom Hanks cries the loss of NASA astronaut, James Lovell.

Following the heartbreaking news of the disappearance of Lovell at 97, Thursday, via The New York TimesHanks, who played Lovell in the 1995 film Apollo 13paid tribute to the late astronaut by going to his Instagram account on Friday.

In the NECRology post, the 69 -year -old actor wrote a touching note praising the remarkable achievements of Lovell.

“There are people who dare, who dream, and who lead others to the places where we did not go ourselves,” started the Oscar-winning actor.

“Jim Lovell, who had long been further in space and for longer than any other person on our planet, was this kind of guy,” he said about the NASA commander.

Hanks continued by saying: “His many trips around the earth and until the moon was not made for wealth or celebrities, but because challenges such as it is what feeds the course of life – and which better than Jim Lovell to make these trips.”

“On this night of a full moon, he passes-to heaven, cosmos, stars. God accelerates you, during this next trip, Jim Lovell,” he concluded.

It is relevant to mention that Lovell, also known as Jim, who was also the former naval test driver, took four space missions during his lifetime.
