Wild boars invade the district densely populated

Rawalpindi:

The residents of Jhanda Chichi, a densely populated district located between the VIP movement areas in Rawalpindi, live in fear while wild boars have started to travel the area freely. According to the inhabitants, these wild pigs often appear in groups or alone, especially after sunset, and remain until dawn.

They have repeatedly attacked children, women and pedestrians, causing injuries. The animals feed on household food waste thrown into empty plots, cemeteries and alleys.

Due to growing fear, many residents – especially women and children – avoid going out alone. In some cases, wild boars have even been spotted wandering on the main roads.

Eyewitness Malik Shehbaz Latif said that animals have migrated from the Ayub park region via the banks of the draw.

Previously, they would come back in the morning, but now they have made permanent houses in the foliage invaded by the old cemetery Jhanda Chichi.

Residents say that stray dogs only bark at distance pigs but never engage them. The residents fear that without immediate intervention, the population of wild boar can double or triple in one year.

Meanwhile, the area of more than 70,000 people continues to deal with other civic problems. Residents have been without drinking water for two months despite several complaints.

The electric lines are dangerously low through the alleys, posing serious risks, especially during the rain. Recently, a resident was electrocuted due to these exposed sons.

The inhabitants, including Malik Shehbaz, Sharif Qureshi and Arif Shah, urged the administration of the district and the civil defense to take rapid measures.
