Islamabad:
Pakistan welcomed the allocation rendered by the Court of Arbitration on Monday on issues of general interpretation of the Industry Water Treaty (IWT), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
The prize was announced on August 8 and published on Monday on the court website. The decision performs the criteria designed for new serial hydroelectric projects, which will be built by India on Western rivers – Chenab, Jhelum and Industry.
“This is an approval of Pakistan’s historic position on the aforementioned issues,” the statement published by the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, while referring to the IWT and the unilateral decision of India to keep the Treaty.
“The price includes particular importance in the wake of the recent announcement of India to hold the attempt Twt, and its previous decision to boycott the procedure of the Court of Arbitration,” said the spokesman.
“Pakistan remains attached to the complete implementation of the Industry Water Treaty. It also expects India to immediately take the normal functioning of the treaty and faithfully put the sentence announced by the Arbitration Court,” he added.
