- The Microsoft Lens application will be withdrawn from application stores after a decade
- Users can always scan documents with the Copilot Microsoft 365 application
- Some features, including direct access to the application, will not be available in a co -pilot
Microsoft confirmed that it was drawing its mobile document scanning application, which was formerly launched as an office objective in 2015, with users who received a series of dates to know.
From September 15, 2025, the application will be withdrawn from iOS and Android devices and deleted respective application stores two months later. The third month – December 15 – Digitization in the preinstalled application will be deactivated, but existing analyzes will remain accessible.
Known for not charging subscription fees and its simple and reliable features, Microsoft Lens has been a precious tool for converting printed or handwritten notes to PDF and other types of main files.
Lens Microsoft Farewell
Microsoft has more than 92 million lifetime downloads for its objective application, which is highly evaluated on iOS and Android platforms, and although there is an already available replacement, it does not provide the same features as its predecessor.
The company now points to users to the Microsoft 365 co -pilot for scanning, but it does not have certain objective capacities, such as direct backup to OneNote, Word and PowerPoint.
It is also lacking in scanning of business cards to OneNote, a functionality to fight against reading and the integration of immersive readers.
Microsoft’s assistance page explains how users can access previous scanned files from the objective in the Copilot application in the hope that it can encourage them to migrate, but the open admission of certain features will not be made available immediately raises questions on the question of whether they will be added.
This is not the first time that Microsoft has depreciated an application or popular functionality – in November 2024, Paint 3D has been deleted from the Microsoft Store, Motway Autofill in Microsoft Authenticator was focused recently, and from October 2026, the editor will no longer be part of the Microsoft 365 suite.
