- A leak says that the iPhone 17 Pro will have a new antenna design
- This will apparently improve performance in congested areas
- This could also lead to a more elegant and less interrupted phone design
How many times have you had trouble making a phone call or sending an SMS to your iPhone when you are in a crowded area? Even if your phone shows that you should have several signal bars, the connection is often impossible due to the large number of devices obstructing the waves.
This could change in this year’s iPhone 17 pro, however, according to a new report from a well -known leak. If they must be raw, Apple works on a new system to reduce signal congestion and improve the connectivity of the iPhone, and it has apparently inspired by Apple Watch.
The report comes from Majin BU, a leak with a somewhat mixed assessment with regard to Apple rumors. On their website, the predictioner suggests that the iPhone 17 Pro “will introduce a significant structural change” which involves repositioning the phone antennas to the rear camera module.
Majin BU says that Apple was inspired by the Apple Watch here, because this device “incorporates antennas near the structural and functional elements of its chassis” in a similar way. This is a change compared to the current situation of the iPhone, where the antennas are located on the edges of the chassis. You can see that in the small lines near an iPhone, and Majin Bu says that the new design will cause “cleaner side design with fewer visible breaks”.

But this update does not only concern appearances – Majin Bu thinks that this will also bring practical advantages. In particular, the flight indicates that the repositioning of antennas to the camera module “will reduce the interference of the materials in the chassis and improve the 5G and Wi-Fi 7” connectivity because this area is “less subject to armor and interference”. This is probably because it is further away from your hand, which can cause connectivity problems (think about the “antennagate” of the iPhone 4 for an example).
Majin BU lists a multitude of other potential advantages, including reduced latency, “higher efficiency” in occupied areas, improved radio performance (especially for 5G mmwave and Wi-Fi), an optimized internal space, etc.
It is only a few weeks before Apple reveals the iPhone 17 Pro, so we will not have long wait to see if these predictions are on money. If they are, you could find a little easier to go through this phone call or SMS when you are in a crowded area.
