Diablo Managing Director Rod Fergusson announced that he was leaving Blizzard Entertainment after five years.
In an article shared on X / Twitter, Fegusson said he was “walking” from the company after working on the Diablo Franchise for five years and releasing four games, although he did not indicate where he then heads.
“After five years to drive the Diablo Driving in front with four great launches, it is time for me to move away from Blizzard /Microsoft, sword by hand, and see the rest, “said Fegusson.
“The teams are set up to succeed, with an exciting list of outings to come. I am incredibly proud of what we have built together and I can’t wait for what comes then DiabloAnd for me. “”

Blizzard president Johanna Faries also commented on the announcement, saying: “To guide a franchise like Diablo Take rare talents, vision and collaboration. Thank you, Rod, for bringing all those to the shovel. The future of Sanctuary is brighter due to the impact you have had! “”
The boss of Xbox, Phil Spencer, also had a few words for the departure of Fergusson, saying on Bluesky: “You brought strength, the fire of hell and vision to one of the most emblematic franchises of the game. Diablo IV With you, it was an explosion – thank you for everything you have given to the game and the community. “”
Fergusson is also known for his time as the head of the coalition, where he worked on each Gears of War Game through its time in Microsoft and Epic Games, since the franchise started in 2006.
After 15 years, he joined Blizzard in 2020 as chief of Diablo series, after Diablo 4Announcement in 2019.
Blizzard has since confirmed the news of the departure of Fergussion to IGN, but has not offered any additional comments or reason. There is also no word on who will take over as a chief of Diablo deductible at this time.
