Probandation on Imran prison meetings
Earlier in the day, the session, chaired by President Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, was marked by an opposition to the refusal of the meetings between the president of PTI imprisoned Imran Khan and five MNA waiting outside the Adiala prison.
Asad Qaiser of PTI said that this decision was a violation of the privilege of members.
The speaker urged the two parties to hold talks, offering a bridge between the government and the opposition. “There is no jirga larger than the National Assembly and the Senate. I am ready to play the role of a bridge,” he said.
He proposed a government negotiation team including the Minister of Law Azam Nazeer Tarar, Talal Chaudhry and Syed Naveed Qamar, while urging the opposition to appoint his representatives. Tarar said the question of the prison meeting was procedural but could be resolved by dialogue. Malik Amir Dogar of PTI agreed to consult his party before finalizing the names.
Despite the speaker’s repeated requests not to stage, opposition legislators left the chamber, returning shortly after to declare a symbolic demonstration. They then underlined the quorum, which turned out to be complete.
Five bills have been adopted, a dismissal
The Chamber adopted five bills: the Bill 2025 lawyers and councils of the Barreau (amendment), the bill for the amendment to the National Institute of Health (Reorganization), the 2024 bill for the prevention of acid and fire attacks, the bill on reserved university seats 2024 and the ZAKAT and the USHR (modification) 2025.
