Karachi: The best squash players from Pakistan Asim Khan and Ashab Irfan have progressed towards the quarter -finals of the Open of Johns Creek 2025, a PSA Challenger event of $ 12,000, after having recorded victories in the second round on Thursday.
Asim’s seeded has overcome Kareem Badawi 11-3, 11-6, 5-11, 11-8 in 45 minutes. Asim dominated the first two games with a precise length and controlled rallies before Badawi fought to take the third. The Pakistanis gathered in the fourth to secure its place in the last eight.
Ashab’s second seeded only needed 20 minutes to reject the United States Christopher Gordon to consecutive matches, 11-2, 11-4, 11-4. Ashab’s aggressive shooting and the rapid pace kept the American on the defensive throughout.
However, it was the end of the road for the seventh seeded Ahsan Ayaz, who was ahead of a five -game thriller against the Omar Elkattan of Egypt. After winning the first 11-4 game, Ahsan lost the second on a 12-10 equality break and the third 11-9.
He leveled the match by winning the fourth 11-8, but Elkattan held firm in the decision-maker to win 11-8 after 58 minutes of high intensity play.
Muhammad Huzaifa Ibrahim also released in the round of 16, losing against the third seeded Diego Gobbi from Brazil 9-11, 11-3, 11-4, 11-6 in 47 minutes.
Huzaifa started strongly by taking the opening match, but could not match Gobbi’s pace and consistency in the remaining matches.
