When we examined (and granted five candy stars to) the Kef LS50 Wireless II speakers, we have said that they were “really phenomenal”-in fact, the Wireless II and their passive and wired LS50 metal brothers collected a plethora of five-star critics for their spectacular sound. And now, Kef has introduced two new colors for both models, thus expanding standard color options to five.
The new shades seem to me quite fall: Moss Green reminds me of the green glass office lamps, the leather chairs and a study bordered by books while the sand shell is more a space open by a crisp and sunny morning. The two are quite beautiful.
These new colors join the existing range of carbon black, titanium gray and mineral white. And Kef also makes special editions for limited purposes in other colors; For the moment, this means the daring red crimson for the Wireless II and a sober royal blue for the meta LS50.
The two models have the same curved chicane and the intelligent medium / low pilot with an integrated tweeter, but the Wireless II adds integrated amplification, connectivity for televisions and consoles, as well as wireless connectivity between the two speakers. This offers resolution up to 24 bits / 96 kHz, and if you need even higher performance, you can still connect them with the cable provided to get 24 bits / 192 kHz.
Each tweeter of the LS50 Wireless II is powered by an A / B class amplifier of 100W, which is designed to offer a “triple and incredibly detailed performance”, while the medium and low pilots are trained by dedicated class D amplifiers of 280W.
As we said in our magazine Kef LS50 Wireless II, “The Stereo LS50 Wireless II speakers continue to provide the phenomenal audio quality offered by their predecessors – then some.”
The prices of new colors are the same as for the rest of the ranges. For the meta LS50, this means an RRP of $ 1,599 / £ 1,299 (approximately $ 2,700 in) per pair, and the LS50 Wireless II has an RRP of $ 2,999 / £ 2199 (about $ 4,575 in).
