Four picnickers drowned in Hawke’s Bay on the day of I-Day

Karachi:

Four bodies, including that of a minor, were caught by separate drowning incidents at Hawke’s Bay, Hub Dam and Hub River in the last two days, rescue officials announced on Friday. According to the Edhi Foundation, Asad Nawab, 30, and Faizan, 26, drowned by swimming in Hub Dam on Thursday. Their bodies were recovered by divers on Friday morning.

Relatives said the two were neighbors and had left swimming together. Funeral prayers were offered after Friday prayers, followed by burial in the local cemetery. The two men were married and Faizan was the father of a young girl.

The rescue officials also recovered the body of Huzaifa, 12, who drowned in Hub River on Thursday. The family took the body without finishing police formalities.

In another incident, two young people drowned in Manora Point near Hawke’s Bay swimming in the sea. Friday evening, the divers restored the 25 -year -old Waseem body of Turtle Beach near Hut No. 105. However, the search for Zakir, 20, had to be suspended in Nightfall and will resume on Saturday.

The officials said that the victims were part of a group of five friends from Ranchore Line who had gone to Manora Point for a picnic. The rescuers managed to save the other three – Kashif, Saleem and Gulfam – after a painful effort.

The drowning of picnickers on the city’s beaches is common because most of them do not know how to swim and enjoy splashes only in the deep waters of the waist. However, they are swept away by high tides and are unable to swim on the ground.

Each year, the Karachi Commissioner imposes a swimming ban during the summers to prevent drowning. Nevertheless, people rush into vacation beaches, throwing caution in the wind and risking their lives.
