- Windows 11 has just received a new test construction in the version chain of the version
- It comes with a fair piece of AI features, but only one I really want
- It is the agent of AI in the parameters, which takes place to more people – but unfortunately, I will not get this, because it is for Copilot + PCS only
Windows 11 has just received a new overview version, and there is a lot of work with AI here, including a new home page for the recall capacity and a wider deployment of the AI agent in the Settings application.
This is the Build 26100.506.1 overview, which was pushed to the testers of the version preview chain, and as you can guess, a large part of the new introductions on the AI front concerns only PC Copilot +.
One of the most important movements is that the AI agent in parameters – which works as a natural language research to find the options you want easily – is now deployed on Copilot + laptops with AMD and Intel processors.
Previously, this capacity was only available for Copilot + PC with Snapdragon X processors (ARM), but it now works with all these devices (although the function still only works when your main language is defined on English in Windows 11). Unfortunately, I do not have a COPILOT +apparatus, so I am more than a little jealous, because I have the impression that it is really an AI feature that is worth it – and it is a rarity.
Speaking of this, still in COPILOT + PCS territory, the recall functionality – for those who have lit it, and it will not be everyone, even if it is a basic pillar of Microsoft with the AI – now has a new home page which is based on your recent activity.
Thus, this surfaces your most used applications and websites, and will also present the latest snapshots taken so that you can quickly return to the tasks in which you were previously engaged (assuming that you have snapshots to be saved in the recall, of course). Essentially, it is a useful and personalized shortcut bank to return to what you do faster.
At the same time, click to do (suggestions for contested contexts AI) is now delivered with a short tutorial (apparently interactive). This shows how it works to offer shortcuts with images or text, a useful touch for new ones.
All this is for Copilot + PCS, but there are new additions to coming to all Windows 11 systems. This includes AI actions in File Explorer, which are shortcuts in a similar vein to click to make, depending on the editing of images or the summary of the documents.
With images (JPG and PNG formats) in File Explorer – which is the application that displays your office files – there are now four AI actions. This includes visual research (image search on the web), and the capacity of deleted objects, which is the deletion of objects supplied by AI in the photo application – the more the explicit blur background option in this application. In addition to that, remove the background will do exactly that with an image in the paint application.
However, in the case of summary of documents, this functionality is limited – you need a Microsoft 365 subscription to benefit from AI actions here.
Far from the AI, there are quite a few other changes with this new version of preview, and a multitude of minor modifications everywhere – see Microsoft’s vast blog article for details.
Among the other NIFTY non-AI changes, including Windows 11 users outside Europe, obtaining the possibility of fully personalizing which widgets appear on the locking screen (previously, this was exclusive to the European economical area).
Windows Hello – The secure connection system – now has a reworked interface, and a bug where facial recognition has failed has been corrected (the more the connection of fingerprints now works better after the PC wakes up from sleep).
Analysis: the importance of being artificially intelligent
The Windows 11 parameter modification agent is one of the most useful applications for the AI that I saw introduced by Microsoft, so even if it is good to see it coming on Copilot + PC which do not have a ARM processor, I am always jealous that I miss. Yes, I understand – you need this powerful NPU to make it work – but still, it does not feel so as not to receive one of the concepts of AI truly laudable that Microsoft is boiling.
In any case, as it is the version preview channel, this means that the AI agent should strike the finished version of Windows 11 fairly quickly for those who have the necessary equipment.
The rest of us may have the impression that we are missing, or maybe you don’t even care about that – or the others not before Microsoft took with AI here. Okay, it is therefore not that there was nothing else for normal machines (non-cropilot +) Windows 11 in this overview, but a good part of the major movements was to be seen with the AI.
And it is likely that the emphasis on the features of AI here could cause groans of a few people – but despite this, and the relatively niche attraction of COPILOT +devices, we can expect a lot more than Microsoft pushing this type of technology.
Recent visions of the Windows future of some Microsoft managers highlighted the importance of AI (as well as cloud and voice commands for entry), it is therefore clear that it is a Microsoft path will forge even more vigor in the coming years. In short: you better get used to it.
