PM Press for the digital economy without species

Islamabad:

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Sunday that the government favored efforts to digitize the economy and transfer all transactions to a system without cash.

He chaired an examination meeting on the economy without species and digital in the federal capital.

The Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the progress towards an economy without species and ordered chief secretaries to fully support the federal government in the widening of the Raast system to district governments.

The meeting has been informed of the progress of measures to promote an economy without species.

Reunion participants have been informed that digital identifiers will be created as part of the Pakistani digital public infrastructure, incorporating national identity cards, biometrics and citizens’ mobiles to allow digital payments.

They were told that provincial governments had made significant progress in the connection of public payments to government and government in public with the Raast system.

On digital infrastructure, the capital Development Authority has granted a grip for fiber connectivity, while discussions continue with Pakistani railways and the National Highway Authority.

The Federal Minister for Finance and Revenues Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, Federal Minister of Information and Radiation Attaullah Tarar, Federal Minister of Information and Telecommunications Shaza Fatima Khawaja Kayani and the senior officials concerned attended the meeting.
