Hyderabad:
A journalist based in Karachi was found shot in his car parked in front of a restaurant on Hyderabad Road in the Sanghar district on Saturday evening. SSP Sanghar Abid Baloch told the press that Khawar Hussain Bajwa’s body was found in the driving seat of his car. He was associated with Dawn News Channel.
Later, the police also found a pistol, which the deceased held in his right hand and a ball box of the car. According to the SSP, the ball entered by its right temple and came out of the left. Baloch said it would be early to conclude the cause of his death, adding that a wider investigation was launched before drawing a conclusion.
Hotel staff, Mirchi 360 Sanghar, informed the police that Bajwa entered his premises twice to use the toilet, then returned to his car. A hotel guard told the police that after noticing that the deceased had not placed any order and yet the car was still parked outside their hotel, he approached the vehicle and saw his head of his head.
He then called the director and other staff who contacted the local police. A video surveillance camera installed at the hotel shows that the entering and outgoing journalist. However, there was no camera towards his vehicle that could have helped the investigation.
Bajwa was alone in his car and he entered and also left the hotel alone. Dig Nawabshah Faisal Bashir Memon confirmed that the pistol found in his vehicle was authorized in the name of the deceased. His brother-based Blood-based brother-in-law, Zubair Ali, in his registered version with the police, said they were ignorant of his visit to their city on Saturday, even if he had always informed them before coming to Sanghar.
His post-mortem was carried out at the Sanghar civilian hospital.
Ali informed that the brother and parents based in the United States of Bajwa should arrive in Pakistan on August 18, after which his body will be taken at the hospital for Bloodhar burial. The brother-in-law said that he had learned his death through a friend who called him and spoke of the incident. Legal police and drugs have not yet shared the initial conclusions of the post-mortem report.
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah took note of the incident and asked for a detailed report from the police inspector.
Governor Tessori has transmitted sincere sympathies to the bereaved family, describing the journalist’s death as “great tragedy for journalism and society”. Provincial ministers, members of the community of journalists, friends and relatives also expressed shock and sorrow with the incident. They prayed for the disappeared soul and for the strength of the family to carry this irreparable loss.
