Peter Mandelson, the United Kingdom’s ambassador to the United States, thinks that the Super Bowl should be held across the pond.
Mandelson said last week that he had lobbying since he played the role in February for the largest sporting event in the United States to be organized by the United Kingdom
“I made a big ground for the first Super Bowl outside the United States which takes place in Great Britain,” said Mandelson at Chicago Council on Global Affairs Thursday, by C-SPAN.

“I want this super bowl in Britain. I don’t care when it happens, but I want it to be announced during my time as ambassador. We love it, we love it.”
The public laughed at Mandelson’s remark, but he is not the only one in his country of origin to see the Super Bowl in the United Kingdom

The mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, also asked that the Super Bowl be organized in his city, which, according to him, constitutes London as “sports capital of the world”.
“The Super Bowl is really important for us,” said Khan last year. “We have a number of American football games, and I want it to come here because we want American sports fans in Europe to come to London to watch them, not just going to America.”

The NFL has been playing regular season games in London since 2007, starting with the first official match held outside North America. Almost two decades later, the League continues its international push, which this season includes two games at the famous Tottenham Hotspur stadium in London in October.
Since its creation in 1967, the Super Bowl has always stayed in the United States. The event should be played at the home of the 49ers in San Francisco, Levi’s Stadium, in Santa Clara, California, in 2026.

It was also decided that the Super Bowl LXI, which will be played in 2027, will take place at the Sofi stadium in Inglewood, California, followed by the Super Bowl LXII at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
