Mariah Carey recently shared her controversial opinion on the Grammy Awards.
During an appearance on Pitchfork’s On / less On Thursday, the 56 -year -old series said that the Grammys were “surfaces”.
“I think the Grammys are surfaces,” said Mariah, who was nominated 34 times for a Grammy throughout her career.
“This feeling applies to the show and the real price.” But we love everyone, “she added.
For those who have been reversed, Mariah already has five Grammy Awards. She first won a gramophone in 1991.
Later in the interview, the Everything I want for Christmas is you Hitmaker also talked about his struggle for freedom within the industry.
“When I started in the music sector, I have often been told to comply with certain expectations,” said Mariah, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “I was not encouraged to focus on my love for black music.”
“It took countless arguments, endless anger attacks – I will call them anger attacks – and above all an unshakable determination, but, in the end, I was able to reveal my authentic self, as they say, and create music that came from my heart,” continued the singer. “In doing so, I discovered a new feeling of freedom and fulfillment.”
THE Emotions Singer also said: “I accept this price on behalf of each person who has ever felt silent or marginalized, who has already been informed that their voice does not matter.”
“Your truth is important. We will continue to open the way for a future where authenticity is celebrated, diversity is adopted and music has the power to change the world,” added Mariah.
