Earthquakes felt in the capital and other parts of the country on Tuesday

Islamabad:

Earthquakes were felt in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkh (KP) early Tuesday morning, after a 5.2 earthquake hit the region, Pakistan (PMD) said in a statement.

Trendments have also been tested in Peshawar, Swat and Abbottabad, confirmed PMD.

According to the PMD alert, the earthquake occurred at 10:20 pm PST at a magnitude of 5.2 on the Richter scale. The epicenter was located in the Hindu mountain chains of Kush in Afghanistan at a depth of 190 kilometers.

Provincial management of Punjab disasters confirmed that there were no victims or damage reported from anywhere in the province.

“District administrations through Punjab inspect buildings as a precautionary measure,” said PDMA DG Irfan Ali Kathia, adding that the provincial control room and all the district emergency operations are on alert 24/7.

The previous incident of this type occurred in May, when a 5.5 Grosait trembling shook northern Pakistan, Tremblant Islamabad, Rawalpindi and several districts through Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Sismologists point out that the Hindu region of Kush is subject to earthquakes with deep focus, generally occurring from 150 to 250 kilometers below the surface of the earth.
