- Emdoor EM-959-NM16ash-1 Ryzen Ai Max Chip promises a strong workstation power
- Display a refreshment reaching up to 180 Hz seems excessive for working needs, leaning towards the territory of the game
- At 2.45 kilograms, this laptop is more like an office replacement than a mobile workstation
Emdoor, a company that has mainly kept a low profile since 2023, now publishes another system that he calls a “high -end PC workstation with a new generation AI chip”.
The device, listed under the code “EM-959-NM16ash-1”, is delivered with the Ryzen AI Max of AMD processors, also known as Strix Halo.
The EMDOOR EM-959-NM16Ash-1 offers a memory LPDDR5X-8000 welded on a 256-bit bus, giving a high bandwidth but preventing improvements.
A workstation or a game laptop?
Although the memory is limited to a maximum of 128 GB to purchase, the storage is more flexible with two PCIe 4.0 × 4 locations M.2 supporting up to 8 TB.
The display is a 16 -inch panel with a 2560×1600 resolution, with 165 Hz or 180 Hz refresh options.
These specifications can attract users looking for a video editing laptop, but they also blur the line between the workstation and the game equipment.
This impression is still reinforced by names of internal disclosed files linked to the design, which included the term “games”.
At 2.45 kg, the system is heavier than many of its rivals, with XN77-160M-CS from Sixunitéd and Zbook Ultra G1A of HP weighing less than 1.8 kg.
Although the larger construction has been chosen to manage the thermal design from 45 to 120W from Strix Halo, this weight can only be acceptable for a stationary workstation, because buyers looking for a business laptop may not find this attractive design.
It also includes a 99Wh battery which should last eight hours, but without independent test, such claims remain promises.
Cooling is managed by a double channel configuration coupled with triple heat Turples and a quad-exhauste system.
The company markets this system as a workstation, but aesthetics, refreshing rates and name of name suggest the roots of play.
Since Emdoor acts as an original design manufacturer, the same model could easily appear under another brand marketed as a game system.
Whether this laptop becomes a reliable tool for professionals or fades in darkness, as some of the company’s past projects will only be clear once it has reached the market and real comments emerge.
Currently, only a limited number of PCs have the Strix Halo chip, with examples including the Asus Rog Flow Z13 (13.4 ″), the HP Zbook Ultra 14 G1A and a handful of others.
In terms of price, these devices cost much more than $ 2,000, and taking into account the specifications of the EMDOOR EM-959-NM16Ash-1, it will probably cost more.
