Rawalpindi:
The association of Pakistan Naanbai and the Tandoor organizations of twin cities Rawalpindi and Islamabad made a week’s notice to the government and to the assistant commissioners concerning the high prices of flour, fine flour and commercial gas cylinders, demanding an increase in prices of bread, NAAN and Paratha.
A joint agreement of the organizations of Naanbai of Islamabad and all the districts of the Punjab was called to Rawalpindi after Eidul Azha. During this agreement, a decision will be made either to officially announce the new prices of bread and NAAN, or to launch a strike and a complete protest.
Shafeeq Abbasi, the central president of the association, said that a bag of red flour costs 6,000 rupees from the Tandoor mills, while fine flour is sold at 7,200 rupees per bag. In one week, the price of regular flour increased RS500 and Fine RS600 flour-a trend that continues to increase, he adds.
“Despite the extreme heat, no tandoor has access to Suis Gas. Each tandoor operator is forced to buy commercial gas cylinders for 14,000 rupees to work each.
The Suis Gas and GNL supplies are completely closed. Electricity prices have also increased, while rental costs for tandors and labor wages have increased. “”
In addition, the prices of ghee, oil and dry milk have increased, he says and adds under these conditions that it is impossible for them to sell affordable bread.
Abbasi demanded that the government repair the new and increased prices of bread; Otherwise, after Eid, the owners’ convention of Tandoor All Punjab will decide on strict measures.
